Why 2BF.io?

I've always enjoyed writing and I even considered pursuing an English Literature degree, but engineering has often taken me in a different direction. But I have been fortunate to be able to give many presentations and do a lot of technical and professional writing over the years. This site is a continuation of that with content focused on resources for my colleagues, contemporaries, and clients.

Why "Two Blue Feet"?

Because it’s fun and whimsical and not too self important. 🤪 And I needed a name for my company that was better than what I had before.

Naming websites and businesses are hard, and easy to mess up. For my last business, Phaeron, Inc. was perfectly serviceable, except that it was hard to remember, hard to spell, and hard to pronounce, with the “Phaer” sounding like “fair” and “on” pronounced like “own”. 🤦

This time, I wanted to address those things, and had just recently returned from a trip to the Galápagos Islands where I had been enamored with the Blue-footed booby. I found it to be cute, comical and fascinating. It had also featured in The Far Side of the World, a book in one of my favorite series by Patrick O’Brian. I took that, changed it a bit, and came up with the name “Two Blue Feet LLC” for the business, and shortened it to 2BF.io as needed.
